The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine planned to launch a massive drone attack targeting the Rostov region, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Friday, adding that the attack was foiled in the preparatory stage.
"A Russian citizen was identified in the Rostov Region who was to be used by officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to carry out a sabotage and terrorist attack, with the promise of a monetary reward following the bombing" of the Rostov-on-Don Central military airfield, the FSB stated.
The objective of this action was to destroy the infrastructure and kill personnel of the military airfield, according to the FSB. It claimed that "the enemy" intended to use 13 First-Person View (FPV) drones equipped with artificial intelligence, each carrying more than one kilogram of explosives.
