Iran demanded that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi pay around $11 billion in accumulated debts for Iranian gas imports during his recent visit to Tehran, according to two Iraqi sources cited by Al-Hurra.
The sources said Baghdad told Tehran it could not currently pay the full amount, while Iran rejected an Iraqi proposal to settle part of the dues through alternative arrangements.
