Member states of the International Criminal Court (ICC) voted to dismiss chief prosecutor Karim Khan following allegations of sexual misconduct, media outlets worldwide reported on Friday, citing diplomatic sources.
According to the sources, 82 of the court's 125 member states voted in favor of the prosecutor's removal during a special session at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Khan, 56, denies any wrongdoing.
The disciplinary process against Khan began in the wake of his decision to request arrest warrants over two years ago for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders for alleged war crimes committed during the conflict in Gaza since October 2023.
