DeepSeek CEO Liang Wenfeng said that Chinese artificial intelligence chips could become a practical alternative to Nvidia's technology within a year, according to a transcript of a four-hour investor meeting obtained by Yicai.
"Within the next year, we will see one thing proven: the ecosystem of domestic chips is completely sound," Liang was quoted as saying. "Previously, people thought they were unusable or inconvenient, but within the next year, we will be able to reverse that perception with facts."
Liang argued that Nvidia's CUDA software advantage was rapidly weakening and reportedly described the company as "digging its own grave." He said Huawei's Ascend 950 supernodes could compete with Nvidia's GB200 and GB300. Liang also said DeepSeek was prioritizing long-term investment in artificial general intelligence (AGI).
