United States President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that his administration will allow American airlines to conduct direct commercial flights to Lebanon after meeting the country's President Joseph Aoun earlier in the day.
"I am hereby directing my Administration to allow all US airline carriers to fly directly to Lebanon so that Americans can easily visit this beautiful land. Hopefully, other Countries will do the same," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Direct commercial flights from the US to Lebanon had been suspended since 1985, when the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) banned them over the instability in the region.
