UK maritime body reports tanker hit near Oman

 The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said a tanker was hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz.

The maritime agency said it received reports over VHF Channel 16, used for distress calls, that the vessel had been struck about 8 nautical miles northeast of Limah, Oman.

UKMTO advised ships in the area to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity.
