Yemen's Houthi movement said that it attacked the Saudi oil tankers Encelia and Layla with ballistic and cruise missiles and drones.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed the strikes hit both vessels and forced about 10 other ships to retreat.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) earlier reported that a projectile struck a tanker about 70 nautical miles southwest of Al Shaqiq, Saudi Arabia, causing a fire.
