An Iran-aligned Iraqi armed group transfers about $400 million in cash to Iran each month by truck, Rudaw reported Wednesday, citing a member of parliament’s Security and Defense Committee who attended a meeting with Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi.
The lawmaker said the group collects dollars from Iraqi businesses and institutions for Iran, adding that a single monthly shipment amounts to about four tons of cash, according to the report.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between al-Zaidi and members of the parliamentary committee, according to Rudaw.
