The United States plans to loosen sanctions on Venezuela's oil as part of an agreement between the Trump Administration and the Bolivarian Republic's goverment, CNBC reported on Wednesday, citing sources close to the White House.
According to a statement made by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, Venezuela will deliver between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil, which will be sold at market prices, to the North American country. However, the sources emphasized that sales will continue indefinitely and that those 50 million barrels are just the first tranche.
The oil will be re-routed to the United States from sanctioned barrels that would have otherwise gone to China, the outlet said.
