United States President Donald Trump said he will meet Colombia's President Gustavo Petro after a phone call that addressed drug issues and other disputes.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that Petro reached out to explain the situation and that both sides agreed to continue talks. "It was a Great Honor to speak with the President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro," Trump said, noting he appreciated the call and tone. He added that arrangements for the meeting are being made between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the Colombian Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio.
The news comes after Trump threatened Colombia, saying a military operation in the country "sounds good" following a military operation already carried out in Venezuela.
