The internet was down across Iran on Thursday, according to cubersecurity tracker NetBlocks. The monitoring organization initially reported that internet connectivity was falling on multiple providers, soon confirming that "live metrics show #Iran is now in the midst of a nationwide internet blackout."
The web outage allegedly came as Iranians began chanting out of their windows against the regime, a CBS News source in the capital said. As per the report, "huge crowds" gathered across Tehran following a call by exiled Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi to make their voices heard.
The news came as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called for "utmost restraint" in dealing with the protests, a day after Tehran warned the United States and Israel not to interfere.
