The United States National Security Council officials met with Denmark's Ambassador to the US, Jesper Moeller Soerensen, and Greenland's chief representative to Washington, Jacob Isbosethsen, at the White House on Thursday to discuss US President Donald Trump's recent renewed efforts to acquire Greenland, including potentially by military force, according to a report by the Associated Press, citing Danish government officials.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously ruled out the possibility of his country invading Greenland, amid reports that the US president wants to purchase the island or offer Greenlanders up to $100,000 per person to support the US plans to acquire the Danish overseas territory.
