Venezuela said to work with US on oil exports

Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez is working with the Trump administration on increasing oil exports to the United States, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, citing a person close to the Venezuelan government. Rodriguez is allegedly in direct contact with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to finalize a plan, previously announced by US President Donald Trump, to transfer 30 million to 50 million barrels of crude oil to the US, where it will be sold at market value.

According to the report, several obstacles remain, including the fact that the US has not recognized the Venezuelan government. However, the source said Washington could recognize it "very soon," and that teams of experts are working on resolving other issues. He also said that Rodriguez "shares a common interest" with the US to stabilize the country and attract investment. "Delcy is very much someone who sits in the zone of compromise," he added.
