Exxon Mobil Expects Q4 Upstream Earnings Impact due to Liquid Price Changes

Exxon Mobil (XOM) forecasts a potential decrease in Q4 2025 upstream earnings by up to $1.2 billion due to declining crude oil prices, as detailed in a recent SEC filing. Brent crude futures and U.S. WTI crude both experienced significant drops, with Brent down 19% and WTI nearly 20% year-over-year. Adjustments in liquids prices might reduce upstream earnings by $800 million to $1.2 billion, while natural gas price fluctuations could impact earnings by negative $300 million to positive $100 million. Asset sales are expected to contribute $600 million to $800 million to the quarter's earnings, offset by restructuring charges of up to $200 million. The company plans to announce its final quarterly results on January 30, with analysts predicting adjusted earnings of approximately $1.66 per share.
