NYPD on alert at sensitive locations after US, Israel strike Iran

 Police were on high alert for terror attacks at sensitive sites in New York City Saturday following a series of US/Israel missile strikes on Iran overnight.

Video posted on X showed NYPD counterterrorism officers patrolled outside the Iranian Embassy on Third Avenue between East 40th Street and East 41th Street in Midtown, Saturday, video posted to X showed.

The department pledged to send additional officers to potential targets including diplomatic missions, cultural centers, religious institutions and other sites — which is its normal protocol when global tensions are heightened.

“The NYPD is closely monitoring events in Iran and the Middle East and coordinating with our federal and international partners,” the NYPD posted on X. “As is our protocol and out of an abundance of caution, we will be enhancing patrols to sensitive locations throughout the city, including diplomatic, cultural, religious, and other relevant sites.”

While no specific, credible threats were immediately identified, the careful approach came as supporters of the Iranian regime lashed out with anti-US rhetoric, law enforcement sources said.

Pro-Iranian group Kata’ib Hezbollah was threatening to target U.S. military bases in the Middle East, the sources said.

But the NYPD had yet to identify specific calls for targeted attacks in the city or the rest of the US, the sources said.

In a post on its official X account, the NYPD said it would send additional cops to potential terror targets, such as The NYPD also warned the public to remain vigilant and notify law enforcemement about suspicious activity by calling 1-888-NYC-SAFE or 911.
