Iran signaled a broadening conflict warning that “there are no red lines” after joint U.S.-Israeli strikes, as missiles targeted Israel and multiple American-linked sites across the Gulf.
A senior Iranian official told Al Jazeera that Israel should “prepare for what is coming” and that the response would be public. The official said, “All American and Israeli assets and interests in the Middle East have become a legitimate target,” adding that “there are no red lines after this aggression.”
The same official described the confrontation as “an aggression and a war that will have wide and long-lasting repercussions,” stating Iran had a “complex response with no time limit.”
The remarks followed joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran early Saturday, just days before nuclear program talks were scheduled. Iranian officials rejected calls for restraint, calling them “unacceptable and mere wishful thinking.”
The Israeli military said missiles launched from Iran were heading toward Israel, triggering sirens in several areas. The Israel Defense Forces said the Israeli Air Force was intercepting and striking threats where necessary. It cautioned that “the defence is not hermetic,” urging the public to follow Home Front Command instructions.
Iran’s retaliation extended beyond Israel. A Qatari Defense Ministry official said an Iranian missile was intercepted using the Patriot air defense system.
In Kuwait, explosions were heard near the U.S.-linked Ali Salem air base after it was targeted by Iranian missiles, according to Al Jazeera Arabic. Sirens were activated.
Bahrain confirmed that the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet had been targeted in a missile attack. Reuters reported smoke rising from the Juffair district in Manama, which hosts Naval Support Activity Bahrain, the principal U.S. Navy base in the Persian Gulf. Earlier, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued an emergency alert urging residents to move to the nearest safe location.
Naval Support Activity Bahrain houses U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet, serving as a logistics and operational hub for missions across the Gulf, Red Sea, and Arabian Sea. The facility supports warships with maintenance, berthing, and supply services and has played a central role in U.S. regional operations.
A loud explosion was reported in Abu Dhabi, according to Reuters, marking further geographic spread. The escalation now spans Israel, Iran, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, indicating a widening theater of operations.
