Qatar summons Iranian ambassador, rejects targeting of its territory – foreign ministry

MFA Qatar: ‘Foreign Ministry Summons Iranian Ambassador, Expresses Strong Protest, Deep Displeasure, and Categorical Rejection of Targeting Qatari Territory Doha | 28 February 2026 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned today His Excellency Mr. Ali Saleh Abadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State, where it expressed its strong protest, deep displeasure, and categorical rejection of the targeting of the State of Qatar's territory, which constitutes a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, a threat to its security, and a blatant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaili, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed to the Iranian Ambassador that the repetition of this targeting constitutes a reckless and irresponsible act, entirely inconsistent with the principle of good neighborliness and relations between the two countries, and that the continuation of such irresponsible actions will inevitably lead to serious repercussions on bilateral relations, especially since the State of Qatar has worked diligently to support diplomatic solutions to de-escalate tensions. His Excellency also affirmed that the targeting of the State of Qatar's territory has led to the terrorizing of civilians and damage to residential areas, emphasizing the necessity of immediately returning to dialogue and diplomatic channels to resolve disputes and halt military operations that pose a direct threat to security and peace in the region.’
