United States President Donald Trump told Axios on Tuesday that he opposes Israel's annexation of the West Bank, while adding that there are more pressing matters to consider at the moment.
"We don't need to be dealing with the West Bank," the US president said. He is expected to discuss the situation in Gaza with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their meeting at the White House on Wednesday.
In December last year, it was reported that the Trump administration pressed Netanyahu to change Israel's policy toward the West Bank, fearing that growing violence in the region could negatively affect the Gaza peace plan.
