Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the country's economic situation in a meeting on Monday, noting that the gross domestic product dropped 2.1% in January compared to the same month last year.
"We need to return to a trajectory of sustainable economic growth, of course, with a slowdown in inflation," the head of state instructed, going on to state that Moscow must proactively address external risks through macroeconomic policy.
Turning to the ongoing energy crisis, Putin said that the Russian oil and gas companies should use the additional revenue from rising prices to pay off their debt to national banks.
