United States President Donald Trump said on Thursday that his country is receiving "tremendous support" from Japan, and that Tokyo is stepping up when it comes to Iran, "unlike NATO."
"We're going to be speaking about it today. We've had tremendous support and relationship with Japan on everything. And I believe that, based on statements that were given to us yesterday, the day before yesterday, having to do with Japan, they are really stepping up to the plate, unlike NATO," Trump told reporters during his meeting with Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
The US president also commended Takaichi on her election win, calling it "the most successful election ever in the history of Japan." He added that he will discuss bilateral relations, Iran war, and trade during his talk with the Japanese prime minister.
