The United States Department of State notified the US Congress that it plans to sell $23 billion worth of weapons and military equipment to its Arab allies, Associated Press reported on Thursday, citing a US State Department official.
According to the report, the United Arab Emirates is set to receive more than $8 billion in air defense systems and related materiel, including drones, air-to-air missiles, and F-16 fighter jet munitions. Meanwhile, the US reportedly plans to send $8 billion in missile defense and radar systems to Kuwait, and $70.5 million in aircraft and munitions support to Jordan.
The report added that Washington also plans another $6 billion in sales to three countries, which do not require congressional notification because those packages were already previously approved and just adjusted.
