United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on Thursday that he had a phone call with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng about President Donald Trump's upcoming trip to the Far Eastern country.
"Our meeting was both candid and comprehensive, and I stressed that China's recent provocative extraterritorial regulations have a chilling effect on global supply chains," Bessent posted on X, adding that he hoped that Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will be "productive."
