Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated on Wednesday that Hezbollah's activity could pull Lebanon into "deeper conflict" despite the current ceasefire, adding that Israel will continue to respond to strikes from across the border.
"We're preventing a Hezbollah invasion into Israel," Saar told Al-Arabiya in an interview, describing the threat as "immediate" and "serious" and adding that the escalation will likely be caused by military activity, not by Israel's intentions.
"We must do today what the army of Lebanon should have done a long time ago," the Israeli minister declared, underlining that Israel has "no territorial ambitions in Lebanon" and that Israeli troops will have "no problem withdrawing" once the military group is dismantled.
