'Ghalibaf: No room for US denial on Lebanon'

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf (pictured) insisted on Thursday that there is "no room for denial and backtracking" on Lebanon being included in the ceasefire agreement with the United States.

Ghalibaf stated that Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who acted as mediator in the US-Iran talks, "publicly and clearly stressed the Lebanon issue" during the negotiations. "Lebanon and the entire Resistance Axis, as Iran's allies, form an inseparable part of the ceasefire," Ghalibaf noted in a post on X, citing Tehran's 10-point proposal for peace. The Iranian official also warned that any ceasefire violations "carry explicit costs and STRONG responses."

The comments come after Israel conducted intensive, deadly strikes on Lebanon after the ceasefire was agreed, claiming the country was not covered by the two-week US-Iran truce. Washington supported Israel, alleging that Iran misunderstood that Lebanon would be included in the ceasefire, while numerous European officials insisted it should be covered.
