Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Monday that her government warned the United States, in a diplomatic note, that the presence of U.S. officials at an anti-narcotics operation in the northern state of Chihuahua must be an exception and should not be repeated.
The involvement came to light after two U.S. officials, along with two Mexican officials, were killed in a car crash on April 19 after the operation. Sources have told Reuters the officials were CIA officers.
