Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Friday that he signed a decree establishing a special military command focused on long-range operations against Russia.
The new rule will concentrate "100% of the available resources on degrading Russia's warfighting potential even more," Zelensky said, adding that it will be led by a "strong" and "highly experienced" commander.
Zelensky also announced the creation of the Joint Rapid Response Forces, a new branch of Ukraine's military that will combine assault troops with drones, artillery and other capabilities to provide "the fastest possible response on the front." He appointed Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, commander of the 8th Airborne Assault Corps, to lead the new force. Ukraine has intensified long-range strikes targeting Russian logistics, fuel infrastructure, and the shadow fleet in an effort to weaken Moscow's ability to wage war.
