'Iran-Oman Hormuz proposal would drop transit fees for ships - CBS News'

An Iranian-Omani proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would allow ships to transit without paying tolls or service fees, CBS News reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

Under the proposal, ships entering the strait would use the route closest to Iran under Tehran's coordination, while outbound vessels would use the route closest to Oman under Muscat's coordination.

If approved, the US and Iran would return to negotiations under terms of their June memorandum of understanding, which provides for 60 days of free transit through the strait, CBS News reported.
