Migrants watching midterms closely, forming caravans to enter U.S. illegally once Dems retake power

 by Monica Showalter

Remember those big scenes of tens of thousands of illegal migrants pushing their way through border checkpoints to enter the U.S. without authorization?

Well, they're far from over. An independent journalist, Oscar Ramirez, went to Mexico to interview would-be migrants and found they are preparing for an encore: watching the U.S. midterms closely, betting on a Democrat resurgence as well as the end of Donald Trump, and forming a caravan for an August 20 takeoff to the U.S. border:

That would have been yesterday. Ramirez asked the first migrant if he would re-enter the U.S. if Donald Trump were out of office. He responded without hesitation: "Of course."

"Whare are people waiting for? For the Democrats to win the Senate and then all migrants can move forward and help rebuild the United States of America," said one man, confusing welfare and unskilled jobs with 'rebuilding' the U.S. "Right now, we're forming a caravan of 2,000 or 2,500 people to leave on August 20 at 5 p.m. in the afternoon and there are many more people on their way; that comes with the dream, the American dream but unfortunately, we are waiting for the Senate elections to get rid of Mr. Donald Trump..."

Another woman interviewed, from Honduras, was asked if she would reenter the U.S. illegally if Trump was out of office, and she replied: "That's the idea. That's what we want, to enter the United States because, honestly, he's deporting too many people to other countries that are maybe not even their own country. We suffer, and the idea is to fully enter the United States. ... That's right, we'll enter again with the hope that we'll be working and helping our relatives."

It's not a terrible thing that they plan to work in the U.S., but it does result in depressed wages for U.S. workers at the bottom of the income scale and usually involves taking a legitimate job from an American. Welfare and crime cases are far worse, given the expense and victimization of Americans, but the idea here is problematic enough -- a sense of entitlement to live in the U.S. and take an American job to help the country back home at best, instead of integrating into the U.S. and assimilating to become Americans. In other words, the U.S. is not a country to them, but just a means to an end.

And notice how closely they follow the news, including the propaganda from the press that Trump is busy killing illegal aliens, which is not at all the case.

What it tells us is that this movement is highly political; it's premised on Democrats winning and keeping open borders and using the U.S. as a convenient vehicle for the transmission of money from the nation to another nation.

And, assuming the caravan left yesterday, it's also an indication that Mexico is busy cooperating with the migrant caravans and allowing them to pass through its territory and enter the U.S. illegally. Some trading partner.

If that's not a reason to hold as hard as possible to vote for Republicans, what is? When migrants tell you they are watching elections and rooting for Democrats to win, it's pretty obvious they are a political project, not refugees. I hope President Trump can force Mexico to shut it all down before they get to the border, and hope even harder that Republicans can retain both Houses of Congress, if for nothing else, for the sake of the country's borders.
