Pezeshkian meets Pakistani mediator in Tehran amid push for US-Iran deal

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran on Tuesday as Islamabad pressed ahead with its mediation between Iran and the United States amid signs of progress toward an agreement.

Pezeshkian told Naqvi that Iran sought to deepen relations with Pakistan “in all fields,” saying closer cooperation could advance mutual interests and strengthen regional stability and security.

Naqvi also met Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as well as Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, during his visit to Tehran.

Pakistan, alongside Qatar, has been mediating between Tehran and Washington, which are exchanging messages through intermediaries rather than negotiating directly. Pakistani officials said Tuesday that the two sides were close to “some sort” of agreement.
