United States President Donald Trump held a signing session at the White House on Thursday, inking two executive orders related to the birthright issue.
The two orders are looking to tackle "birth tourism" and birthright citizenship. The Trump administration detailed that the aim is to "expand the definitions of people who are ineligible for birthright citizenship." This would include US enemies, members of foreign terrorist organizations, and a "large category of people who lobby and act on behalf of foreign governments." It further slammed some of those coming as tourists, claiming that the "real reason why they are here is to have a child."
Trump underlined that Washington "will not allow [this]." He went on to call the Supreme Court's decision on the matter "very unfortunate," adding that for this reason, his government is "making adjustments."
