Senator Paul to refer Fauci to DoJ after contempt vote

 United States Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chair Rand Paul (pictured) told reporters on Thursday that he would directly refer ex-US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Director Anthony Fauci to the Department of Justice (DoJ). His remarks come after the committee voted to hold Fauci in contempt of Congress after he pleaded the Fifth at a hearing, meaning that he refused to give answers.

"This is outside the ordinary bill-making process, so it doesn’t have to go to the House, doesn’t have to be signed by the president, and really doesn’t have to go before the Senate. There is some precedent for doing it that way, and it still may be done that way," Paul commented, adding, however, that at present, the referral will be handed in directly.
