The United States Department of State said in a statement on Wednesday that it is offering rewards of up to $102 million for any information that would lead to "the arrests and/or convictions, in any country, of eight leaders and associates of Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion [Jalisco New Generation Cartel] (CJNG)."
In 2025, the Trump administration designated the Mexican cartel as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT), saying that it is "among the most violent and dangerous narco-terrorist organizations" in the Americas. Washington is offering up to $25 million for CJNG's new leader, Juan Carlos Valencia Gonzalez.
Furthermore, the US also imposed visa restrictions on 65 individuals "who are family members or close personal or business associates of persons linked to CJNG."
