Ukraine hits Russia's oil refinery in Siberia

The Ukrainian General Staff of the Armed Forces confirmed its attack on an oil refinery in Siberia on Thursday.

The Omsk refinery is one of the "most powerful oil refining enterprises in Russia," the General Staff noted, stressing that the facility processes more than 21 million tons of oil per year. The refinery came under attack back in July, during which the Ukrainian army damaged the primary oil processing unit with a capacity of 8.4 million tons of oil per year.

"The damage to such facilities is the exercise by Ukraine of its inalienable right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and is aimed at reducing the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation," the General Staff stated.
