Gate announced on Thursday it has partnered with Visa to launch a crypto-linked payment card expected to roll out across more than 40 markets, expanding the use of digital assets for everyday purchases.
The card will allow users to spend crypto online and in stores wherever Visa is accepted. Digital assets held in Gate accounts will be automatically converted into fiat currency when users make payments. Users will be able to apply for and manage the card through the Gate app, with supported markets, assets, and eligibility requirements varying by region.
The partnership connects Gate's digital-asset infrastructure with Visa's global payments network in more than 175 million merchant locations across more than 200 countries and territories. Visa said more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs are now live globally, with payment volume up nearly 200% year over year.
