Several "heavy" explosions took place in the southern crossing of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on Thursday.
The blasts were caused by "violating" tankers hitting mines deployed in the area, the report added, citing unnamed military sources.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stressed yesterday that Washington and regional partners are in control of the waterway and that traffic is flowing.
