Iran's Revolutionary Guards Navy warned Friday that it would pursue and punish vessels using what it considers unauthorized shipping routes anywhere in the region, extending its threat of maritime enforcement beyond the Strait of Hormuz.
“From now on, action against violating vessels will not be limited to the Strait of Hormuz. Any vessel passing through an unauthorized route will be pursued throughout the region, and its punishment will be certain,” the Guards said in a statement carried by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim news agency.
