Explosions and possible air defense activity were reported in Iran's capital on Friday evening, with residents describing loud blasts and gunfire-like sounds in the eastern part of the city, according to Iran International, which received messages about the incident.
The reports came from the Tehranpars area, where witnesses also said smoke could be seen. The Iranian media also cited Vahid Online, a blogger and internet follower widely followed, who shared reports of anti-aircraft fire following an explosion.
The cause of the blast and the circumstances remain unclear.
