France summoned Iran's ambassador in Paris on Wednesday, at the request of Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, over what Paris called a "disinformation campaign" concerning the high school student movement in France.
The ambassador was told of the "absolutely unacceptable nature of the false content" shared online by official Iranian foreign ministry accounts, and of the "unfounded" summoning of France's ambassador in Tehran on Tuesday. France warned that these "unworthy provocations must cease."
Hours earlier, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez denied accusations of excessive police force during the protests.
