President Donald Trump on Tuesday pointed to the resignation of Iran’s oil minister and inflation he put at almost 300% as evidence that Iran’s economy is under severe pressure.
Speaking to reporters as he departed Joint Base Andrews for a campaign event in Sparrows Point, Maryland, he claimed Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad had said, “We have no economy, we have no oil, we have nothing.”
Trump also said millions of barrels of oil had moved through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, at times exceeding pre-war levels, adding, “We’ve done very well.”
