The USS George H.W. Bush has left the Middle East for a rest stop in Thailand and will return to the region, a US official told Al Jazeera on Monday.
The George H.W. Bush arrived near Phuket on October 4 after about six months in the US Central Command area of operations. The carrier had remained in the Arabian Sea through late September before moving east into the US Seventh Fleet area for the port visit.
Separately, the official detailed the extent of US support for Saudi operations against the Houthis in Yemen.
About 200 US advisers are working in Saudi planning and operations centers, including on targeting, while Washington is also providing intelligence-sharing, planning assistance and aerial refueling. “US forces are not involved in the war in Yemen, and we have no specific objectives there,” the official said.
