The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Monday that it has received late reports of three separate attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker was hit at 17:16 UTC (1:16 pm ET) on October 4, while a crude oil tanker was struck by unknown projectiles at 19:07 UTC (3:07 pm ET) the same day. UKMTO received a late report that a "crude oil tanker had been struck above the waterline by an unknown projectile" on October 3.
UKMTO said the reports came from verified sources and that authorities were investigating. It advised vessels transiting the area to exercise caution and "report suspicious activity." Mehr News Agency reported on Sunday that explosions were heard near Iran's Qeshm Island.
