Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency remained suspended until its nuclear facilities and scientists were secure, under a law passed by parliament, lawmaker Vahid Ahmadi said on Monday.
The law was adopted in response to damage to nuclear facilities during two recent wars and the killing of nuclear scientists, Ahmadi told state media. He said it was based on the principles of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Ahmadi said US and European demands for renewed cooperation were unjustified under international law and the agency’s rules, which he said Iran was invoking.
