Yemeni government forces take control of Bab el-Mandeb

Yemeni government armed forces claimed on Monday that they seized control of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait from the Houthi rebels in the latest offensive.

"Giants Brigades and Nation's Shield Forces have taken control of Bab el-Mandeb," the spokesperson for the Yemeni forces, Brigadier General Majid al-Nuzaili, said, adding that troops are now moving to capture the port city of Mokha.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, Rashad al-Alimi, said that the government launched the operation called Dawn of Yemen "to restore state institutions, liberate the capital, Sanaa, and end the coup by the Houthi terrorist militias." He noted that Yemen will move toward freedom backed by its forces, "allies and friends."
