Rapper targeted in Stockton shooting hiding out: Source

A rapper targeted in the deadly birthday party mass shooting that left three kids dead is hiding out and fearing for his life after he and his wife were both wounded, his dad says.

Rapper MBnel was among the 15 shot at a birthday party for a friend’s 2-year-old daughter inside Monkey Space, a banquet hall in Stockton on Saturday evening, his father Junior Dongon told The Post.

MBnel, real name Johnel Dongon, had previously fled Stockton and was living outside Sacramento.

He had returned to the crime-ridden city of 300,000 people to meet with his fellow rapper pals at the birthday party, his dad said.

“He just came to drop off a present at his friend’s party, whose daughter was the celebrant,” Junior Dongon said.

“He was shot, but he is OK. … He called me and said, ‘Don’t say anything to anybody,” he continued.

The Stockton-based rapper moved out of the area two years ago because he feared for his safety, including an incident where other thugs “shot 22 bullets” at his parents’ house a few years ago, Dongon recalled.

“My daughter-in-law was hit in the butt,” Dongon continued. “We are worried. I’m worried about my wife, but I can’t do anything about it.”

Three children and one young adult were killed in the shooting, which Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi said was related to gang violence.

This is a breaking story. Please check back for updates.

Hochul admits took campaign contributions violating own EO: NY ‘run in backrooms’

Gov. Kathy Hochul is returning roughly $70,000 after facing heat for accepting illegal campaign funds from people on state panels — contributions her adversary, Elise Stefanik, slammed as “pay-to-play.”

Hochul’s reelection coffers have been flush with funds from at least eight people who serve on advisory groups and other policymaking panels, which was first reported by Gothamist — prompting her campaign to admit the misstep and scurry to give back the funds.

The contributions were illegal under an executive order reupped by Hochul, a Democrat, in 2021 that forbids state employees or officers – even those in unpaid roles on little-known government panels – from contributing to a gubernatorial campaign.

Republicans jumped on the opportunity to blast the gov.

“The Worst Governor in America [Kathy Hochul] is also the most corrupt,” GOP Rep. Stefanik, who is hoping to unseat her next year, posted to X.

“Hochul got busted in a pay-to-play scheme and only returned the campaign cash after the media exposed her.”

Some donors included Matthew Rand, who was appointed by then Gov. Andrew Cuomo to the state Board of Real Property Tax Services when he started donating to Hochul.

Rand, a real estate broker, was appointed to the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council in June 2022 and proceeded to give Hochul’s campaign another $15,000.

Another was Mark Gregorio, CEO of elevator company, TEI, who was appointed by Hochul to the Elevator Safety and Standards Board in February 2022. Since then, Gregorio, along with his wife, and TEI have contributed $63,000 to Hochul’s campaign.

Gregorio told The Post he wasn’t aware of the order prohibiting his giving to Hochul and denied that his contributions had anything to do with his appointment to the elevator board. Rand didn’t immediately respond to The Post.

“For too long, New York has been run in backrooms with deals made behind closed doors,” Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, who is challenging Hochul in a 2026 primary next year, posted in reaction to the improprieties.

“New York deserves a government that works for the people — not one that operates behind their backs,” he added.

A spokesperson for Hochul’s campaign confirmed the contributions were being returned, but declined to comment further.

While the governor’s campaign isn’t under threat of going bankrupt anytime soon – it reported over $17 million cash-on-hand as of July – the scandal is yet another example of the governor walking away from her early promises of good government and a “new era of transparency.”

Allies like Randi Weingarten, president of the powerful teachers union, flocked to Hochul’s defense.

“Governor Hochul has the highest ethical standards and is working day in and day out to put money back in families’ pockets,” Weingarten said in a statement.

“I’m proud to stand behind her.”

Dem ‘leaders’ run businesses, residents out of their states—why would anyone want them for president?

California, New York, and Illinois have been losing residents and businesses for years. They cover up for some of their losses by refusing to enforce immigration laws, and welcome people who are in the country illegally.

It is insane to count illegals when determining the number of congressional seats, but in the United States, that is what we do. Anyone who believes the illegals are accurately counted in each state should get an examination to see if their common sense has been removed.

We are constantly told that illegal aliens help the economy, but if that were true, the big “sanctuary” states would be outperforming Texas and Florida—but they’re not. So, it is a false narrative.

Since I have lived in Illinois my entire 72-year life, I will give statistics and facts on how well the state has done. We have Democrats in every major office, and super majorities of Democrats in the House and Senate, so they have complete control. They also have absolute control in Chicago.

For the past three years, Illinois has ranked 44th in GDP growth.

Democrats brag about how they “balance their budget,” but they do it through confiscating more money from all of us who live, work, or visit each year, not through growth:

After at least 70 tax and fee increases since 2011, Illinoisans last year paid $17.3 billion more. Since 2010 all those increases in the state’s tax burden has cost Illinois taxpayers more than $110 billion in additional taxes paid.

And, is it really even a balanced budget when unfunded pension and health liabilities rise each year?

From simple internet searches Illinois has:

Second-highest motor fuel taxes, a regressive tax. Illinois also is one of seven states that charge sales tax on gasoline, another regressive tax.

The second-highest property tax rate in the country.

The third-highest corporate tax rate.

The second-highest unfunded pension liability.

The third-highest workers comp rates in the country.

Illinois is ranked third-worst by businesses for lawsuits. Democrats clearly love trial lawyers more than businesses.

Chicago also has historically had high combined sales tax rates, but it will soon have the “highest” in the nation:

Chicago’s 10.25% combined sales tax currently ranks second among major cities, behind only Seattle’s 10.35%, but a 0.25-point hike for transit will make them the highest in America.

The new Regional Transportation Authority funding bill, which increases the Chicago metro area sales tax by 0.25 percentage points, has passed both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly and now sits on Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s desk. Once signed, it will give Chicago the highest sales-tax rate of any major city in the nation at 10.5%.

Democrats don’t care about the harm that Biden’s open border policies did to Illinois and other states:

Dems leave hearing before minority group’s testimony on Biden border policies

A member of a minority grassroots Chicago organization testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary Wednesday that violent gang members in the U.S. illegally are hurting minority communities, but committee members from the Democratic Party left before she spoke.

Illinois is delinking from pro-business federal tax policies, which means businesses will choose other states to locate:

Illinois state lawmakers are severing new federal business tax cuts. Their quest to keep more cash will cost the state in business competitiveness.

Federal leaders made business tax cuts intended to boost the economy, but Illinois state lawmakers are undoing those savings so they can keep $234 million – and potentially strain Illinois’ already sluggish economy.

Chicago’s budgets continue to spiral out of control, and the solution is always to raise taxes, which compounds the problem:

Chicago tax proposals draw concern over legality, ‘economic death spiral’

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s allies have launched a seven-figure campaign to support his 2026 budget proposal, but opponents say the mayor’s tax plans will send the city into an economic death spiral and could bring about costly litigation.

The Chicago City Council met Tuesday but did not vote on a budget after the council’s finance committee struck down the mayor’s tax-laden revenue package on Monday.

While Illinois spends massive amounts of money for people who are in the country illegally, the Democrats voted to take away school choice for poor children: “Illinois lawmakers decline to extend private school scholarship tax credit program”. Democrats hate competition for their political supporters, despite the serious harm to children. Just 18.3% of children in Chicago were proficient in math in 2024, and only 31% were proficient at reading. Democrats at the national level also oppose school choice as they claim to be the party that cares about the children.

It would be stupid to hire people who run states that are losing people and businesses to run the country.

US may withhold $30.4 million from Minnesota over foreign truck driver licenses

The U.S. ‌Transportation Department said Monday it may ‌withhold up to $30.4 million in federal highway funding from Minnesota over commercial driver ‌licenses issued improperly to non-U.S.‍ residents.

The letter to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz gave the state 30 days to ‌come into compliance and revoke the licenses after a federal audit. In September, the Transportation Department issued emergency rules to drastically restrict commercial driver licenses to non-U.S. ‍citizens after a fatal crash in Florida and a government audit.

Starmer: China poses 'national security threats' to UK

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned on Monday that China poses "real national security threats to the United Kingdom," but also acknowledged the Asian nation as being "of immense scale, ambition and ingenuity."

In his annual speech on foreign policy at the Guildhall in London, Starmer described China as a "defining force in technology, trade and global governance" and argued that the UK needs a "China policy that recognizes this reality" after years of blowing "hot and cold." Rejecting the idea of a "binary choice" between an "ice age" and a "golden age" when it comes to dealing with Beijing, Starmer stressed the UK's response "will not be driven by fear."

"This is not a question of balancing economic and security considerations. We don't trade off security in one area, for a bit more economic access somewhere else," he said. "But by taking tough steps to keep us secure, we enable ourselves to cooperate in other areas," Starmer noted.

House passes 5-year hospital-at-home extension

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Dec. 1 that would extend the CMS waiver to provide acute hospital care at home for five years.

The Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act would continue the waiver, which is currently set to expire Jan. 30, until Sept. 30, 2030. The measure has drawn the support of the American Hospital Association and 52 health systems.

Hospital-at-home care, which allows patients to receive inpatient-level care in their homes through in-person and virtual visits with clinicians, largely went on hold when the waiver lapsed during the recent 43-day government shutdown.

AHA sues to block ‘unlawful’ 340B changes

The American Hospital Association, Maine Hospital Association and four safety-net hospitals have filed a federal lawsuit to halt “unlawful” changes to the 340B drug pricing program, warning the shift could impose major financial harm on rural and underserved communities.

Four things to know

1. The lawsuit was filed Dec. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine and challenges the HHS’ plan to implement a new rebate-based model for 340B starting Jan. 1, 2026. Under the planned change, safety-net hospitals and clinics would be required to pay full market price for drugs up front and seek reimbursement after administration, replacing the longstanding upfront discount model that has supported 340B providers for more than 30 years, according to the AHA.

“When making such a major change, with such far-reaching consequences for patients and hospitals, it is important that the government follow the basic administrative rules of the road. Unfortunately, it did not do so here,” AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack said in a Dec. 1 news release.

2. The AHA argues the new structure would saddle hospitals with “hundreds of millions” in added annual costs, extensive administrative burdens and no benefit to patients. The final rebate model was announced July 31 and, according to the lawsuit, was pushed forward through a”“rushed, opaque process” that ignored concerns from hundreds of 340B hospitals and violated administrative law, according to the lawsuit.

“Giving hospitals only a few months to comply with these burdensome new requirements or risk losing millions of dollars in discounts they are entitled to under the law will harm patients and communities across the country,” Mr. Pollack said. “We are asking the court to act quickly to protect access to vital care services.”

3. In 2022 alone, 340B hospitals provided nearly $100 billion in community benefits, according to the AHA — including free or discounted medications, behavioral health services, opioid treatment and food pantry support.

4. Plaintiffs in this case include St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine; Unity Medical Center in North Dakota; Dallas County Medical Center in Ark.; and Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in Gloversville, N.Y.

Becker’s has reached out to HHS for comment and will update this story as more information becomes available.
