The United States House of Representatives voted 214-208 on Wednesday to overturn restrictions on mineral mining near Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, a move backed by US President Donald Trump.
Lawmakers invoked the Congressional Review Act to challenge a 2023 decision that blocked development in the region, arguing that the rule had not been properly submitted to Congress.
The resolution was sponsored by Representative Pete Stauber of Minnesota and it seeks to end a 20-year moratorium on mining near the wilderness.
