Following the release of more than three million new documents as part of the US Justice Department’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a series of new and striking allegations have emerged. According to the files, Robert Maxwell, the father of Epstein’s former partner and convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, allegedly threatened to expose Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad.
“£400 Million or Everything Will Be Revealed”
According to an allegation contained in the documents and based on an email dated 15 March 2018, Jeffrey Epstein wrote that Robert Maxwell demanded £400 million from Mossad in an effort to “save his collapsing empire”, threatening to reveal everything he had done for the Israeli intelligence service if the money was not provided.
The same email states that Maxwell had unrestricted access to:
- then UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher
- US President Ronald Reagan
- the Kremlin
- major centres of power across Europe
It further claims that Maxwell portrayed himself as Israel’s “unofficial ambassador” to the Soviet bloc.
Allegations of a Blackmail Network Involving Epstein and Maxwell
Other documents include allegations that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were involved in blackmail operations targeting political and financial leaders.
In an email chain dated 2021, presented as witness testimony, it is claimed that suspicions regarding Epstein and the Maxwell family’s links to Mossad had circulated for years. The documents also allege the existence of a second Epstein “black book” containing names and organisational structures that could shed further light on the investigation.
Robert Maxwell’s Death and Lingering Questions
Robert Maxwell, whose media influence had waned by the early 1990s and who was burdened with millions of pounds in debt, died on 5 November 1991 after falling from his yacht, Lady Ghislaine, off the Canary Islands.
Although his death was officially recorded as accidental drowning, the incident fuelled long-standing speculation involving:
- suicide
- other possible causes
These questions have remained a subject of debate for decades.
