President Trump will sign an executive order Friday that will boost beef imports from Argentina in an effort to bring down grocery prices in the US.
Beef hit its highest prices in December, reaching $6.68 per pound. The cause for the high prices was a drought that left cattle farmers doing their best to keep up with demand.
Ground prices were up 12.8% on a year-over-year basis while steak was 16.6% higher, which is well above the 3.2% increase in all food categories.
