The United States Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control added on Wednesday several new individuals, entities, and tankers to its Iran-related sanctions list, it was shown on its website.
In a separate statement, the US State Department said that today's actions are mainly aimed at "sanctioning numerous shadow fleet vessels and their owners or operators that have collectively transported hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of Iranian petroleum, petroleum products, and petrochemical products."
Individuals and entities in question were accused of being involved in weapons procurement networks. Washington once again blamed the Iranian regime for mismanaging the country's economy, which, in turn, leads to "catastrophic consequences" for the people.
