The government of Bahrain said on Sunday that the country's law enforcement arrested five people accused of spying for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
Bahrain's Interior Ministry said that the men arrested were aged from 25 to 39 and that one of them "received intensive training" in IRGC camps. "He and the rest of the detainees took pictures and coordinates of a number of vital and important places, as well as some hotels in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and sent those pictures and coordinates to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which helped in the process of targeting those sites," the ministry added.
Earlier in the day, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied allegations that Iran is targeting any civilian infrastructure in Gulf nations, insisting its only targets are United States military bases and claiming Israel could be behind other attacks on Arab states.
