The United States Treasury Department eased restrictions to allow American businesses and farmers to purchase Venezuelan oil and fertilizer as global prices rise due to the conflict in Iran, Axios reported on Friday.
"These authorizations expand permitted investment and activities in Venezuela's energy industry and allow for the export of fertilizer directly to the US to support our great American farmers," a Treasury official told the outlet.
As per the report, the Office of Foreign Assets Control authorized US entities to import Venezuelan petrochemicals, provide technical services to modernize its energy infrastructure, and negotiate new contracts to develop supplies.
